How much is it common to give as a confirmation gift?

The question quickly arises when an invitation arrives in your mailbox: how much should you give as a gift to someone who is being confirmed? The simple answer is that this is highly individual. Everyone has different finances and different conditions, and there is therefore no right or wrong sum.

Nevertheless, regular surveys are carried out that say something about how much it's common to give as a confirmation gift.

The figures below are taken from a survey conducted by Norstat on behalf of the SKAGEN Funds, which shows how much people spend on a gift to the person who is being confirmed (figures from 2025):

Parents: NOK 5,950 on average.

Grandparents: NOK 3,750 on average.

Godparents: NOK 1,420 on average each.

Aunts/uncles: NOK 1,300 on average.

Cousins: NOK 625 on average.

Friends: NOK 425-475 on average.

Neighbours: NOK 425-475 on average.

What is common to give as a confirmation gift?
