Classic
Here are the event venues for those who prefer classic celebrations. The rich, historic surroundings create a warm and inviting atmosphere, while white tablecloths and excellent lighting provide an elegant setting for memorable gatherings with family and friends.
Grand Hotel Terminus
The hotel offers event venues for smaller gatherings as well as for up to 250 guests. Some of the rooms feature beautiful original interiors preserved from the hotel’s opening in 1928, while others have direct access to the green outdoor areas.
Engen
Engen Steakhouse features a modern architectural style, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light and create a warm atmosphere. The restaurant can host events for up to 200 guests and also offers separate rooms for smaller, private gatherings.

The high ceilings of Frescohallen were painted by Axel Revold between 1921 and 1923, featuring motifs related to Bergen’s business life. Here, you can gather in award-winning, historic surroundings while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere on your special day.

Urban & welcoming
Here you’ll find event venues ideal for a relaxed and welcoming confirmation celebration, perfect for those who want a warm, comfortable atmosphere without sacrificing quality or style. Both the young person’s friends and family can gather for a day filled with laughter and meaningful conversations. The venues are modern, centrally located in Bergen, and offer an inviting ambiance that sets the stage for a memorable celebration in a calm and pleasant setting.
Izakaya Skostredet
Izakaya Skostredet is a newly opened restaurant at Skostredet Hotel. The venue offers a Japanese street food concept with a focus on elevated sharing dishes. Groups of up to 50 guests can be accommodated.

All families are different: some want a dinner with just their nearest and dearest, while others want to gather friends, cousins and cousins, young and old and use the confirmation as an occasion for a long-awaited party with the extended family. De Bergenske has several hotels in Bergen city centre and banquet facilities for every occasion.
In all our events for young people, we serve either a 3-course meal or a buffet from our party menu. The menu consists of everything from beef tenderloin to cured ham, halibut, duck breast, scallops or vegetarian and plant based options. We also have a dessert and cake menu.
Our most important task is to create memorable experiences for you as a guest, together with a tasty meal.

What is a confirmation? FAQs

1. When is it common to be confirmed?
It is most common to be confirmed in the year that the young person turns 15. For most people, the ceremony takes place in April or May – regardless of whether you have a humanist or church confirmation.
2. What should you wear to a confirmation?
The dress code varies, but some common guidelines are that girls should wear a formal dress or bunad (traditional Norwegian national costume), and boys should wear a bunad or suit with a bowtie or tie. Guests are often dressed in dresses or trousers with a nice top, and men in blazers or suits. In general, you should avoid casual outfits such as jeans and T-shirts, as the confirmation is a formal occasion.

3. When should I book a banquet room for my confirmation celebration?
You should book early to secure the banquet rooms that you and your family want for the big day, and you should send out an invitation to the event about 1-2 months before the party. Feel free to contact us at any time, and we will make sure you get your preferred venue.
4. What happens at a confirmation party?
This is of course up to the person being confirmed themselves and you as a family. We at De Bergenske are happy to give you advice on what you can do before or after the big celebration in Bergen city centre. Our banquet rooms are located close to Bergen' railway station, convenient for visitors, and are a short distance to museums, Bryggen, the harbour, and the Fløibanen funicular. During the party itself, we can help you manage both the speeches and the mingling.

5. Confirmation cake, hot or cold buffet at the confirmation?
In a traditional Norwegian confirmation, it is common to serve a festive dinner or a meal that is suitable for big gatherings, and there is often a cold or hot buffet with several dishes of both meat, fish, vegetables and a range of tasty sides.
6. What kind of table setting should I have at the confirmation?
We can help you with both extra lighting, sound systems, table decorations, and decoration.
7. Vegetarian or food allergies?
We have a menu with vegetarian and plant based options. We can also adapt our menu based on food allergies but do need to know about this a few days in advance.
